| The farmhouse 'I Sodi' (250 mt. above sea level) is situated in the hills of Maremma, in the heart of the production region (D.O.G) of "Morellino di Scansano" and (I.G.P.) of extra virgin olive oil. The farmhouse belonged to the brothers Giaquigli Ferrini of Florence. In 1974, after some years of sharecropping, it was bought by the family Bini, the actual owner. ’I Sodi’ stretches for a surface of 45 hectares, 8 hectares of forest land and the rest of cultivable land. We breed for the most part sheep of Apennines, but also pigs, hens and rabbits. There are about 1000 olive trees,(60% frantoiano, 30% morellino and 10% leccino), which produce a light green-straw-yellow oil, suitable for the good Mediterranean cuisine. This oil, certified by the Tuscan region as I.G.P., is put into 750 ml bottles and 5 l tins from the year 2003-2004. In our farmhouse, it is possible to have wonderful walks in the nature and, with a little luck, to admire pheasants, hares, roe dears and other wild animals. In the course of the years, the old house of the 19th century was renovated according to the original structure. In 2002 the old granary and the stable have been changed into two country apartments. Our guests can find a family hospitality and enjoy genuine typical products like homemade jam tarts, cheese, ham, bread, vegetables and fruit, picked directly from the trees. |
